Because that is how he forms your character. Just like the fire tempers steel, lifes tribulations tempers the soul and builds character. If God showed up at your every whim there would be no challenge left for you. Does a Dad show up for his sons algebra exam? Same deal. But the Dad corrects his sons deficiencies later. Hence God replies but not when you feel it is urgent. If he replied any earlier you would become a lazy slob and that would stunt your spiritual growth.

God created Hell so that the people that didnt love him had someplace to go. If you love money more then God you might go to hell. God loves us no matter what we do, but if we dont love him he wont force us to go to heaven. We also have a great misconception of heaven. Heaven is worshipping God for all of eternity, if you dont want to worship God now why would you after you die.
